Neowise Comet

Comets seen with the naked eye are quite rare. This July, in the UK, we’ve been treated to a spectacular comet called Neowise. Its about 65 million miles from Earth and is now starting to move away from us a little more each day. Last week I was lucky enough to catch it on a clear evening and it really was an impressive sight. Situated near the constellation the Plough, to the North West, the tail was visible without binoculars. A few of my images are here, click/tap on the image for a full view to see the comet.

For more information on the Neowise comment check Astronomy Now’s page here: https://astronomynow.com/2020/07/17/dont-miss-comet-neowise-in-the-evening-sky/.

It was also a great opportunity to see the ISS pass over twice during the evening, and there were clear views of both Saturn and Jupiter too for good measure.
